Am I Spending My Time Wisely?

How much time have you got? The life expectancy in a number of first-world countries has now exceeded
eighty years of age, but none of us knows how long we will live. Eighty years gives us 29,200 days to live our lives as we see fit. Or does it?
Have you thought about how often you allow someone else to “spend” or “steal” your time? Each of us has our share of time to use as we see fit, but somehow, you find yourself doing something that you did not plan. It can creep up on you under the disguise of generosity, or the person that phones you to ask you questions to save themselves putting in their own time or money. In your business you might decide to do everything yourself, instead of delegating, and find your deadline has been and gone.
Have you heard of “tyranny of the urgent”? It is that urgent matter that suddenly demands your time. When you think about it you realize that the urgency would not have occurred if you had better time management. It could be your bad planning, or someone else who phones you as they have got into a tight spot. Get into the habit of stepping back and looking at the big picture. What could prevent this happening again? Is my friend in a tight spot because they did not plan their time properly? Should you let them spend your time?
If time was money would you spend it the same? How would you invest it? Can you leverage it? How much do you donate, and who do you give it to? Would you use it to buy other people's expertise, and then add to it?
Your time is a precious gift which you can use as you decide. Treasure it and use it wisely. You have probably heard the saying “A life well spent”. How are you spending your life?
If you are not using your time as well as you would like, contact me and I will help you to account for YOUR time.
